The touchdown celebration — a modern day form of athletically charged art — is always exciting but rarely carries a significant social message. That’s okay, because, well, we don’t like our sports stars to be opinionated. But occasionally, there’s a message that gets delivered. Roddy White whipping out “Free Mick Vick” is one example.
And another alleged and hypothetical example would be the PFT rumor that Chad Johnson planned on pulling out Barack Obama banners this past Sunday against Houston.
We’re told that Bengals receiver Chad Johnson a/k/a Chad Javon Ochocinco had a special touchdown celebration planned for Sunday’s game at Houston, if he had actually managed to, you know, score a touchdown.
Per a league source, Johnson had a Barack Obama banner stashed in each end zone, which he planned to retrieve and unfurl if he had scored.
Of course, as Florio noted, there’s one problem with Ocho Cinco’s plan: he didn’t score. So, my friends, that plan didn’t work out so well. Continue Reading
