Rhodes, who coached the safeties last season, is the new senior defensive assistant - a title owned the last two years by Frank Bush, who was elevated to defensive coordinator after the season.

Three others on the staff last season were promoted - Matt LaFleur to offensive assistant, Perry Carter to defensive assistant and Robert Saleh to assistant linebackers.

With the addition of assistant head coach/defensive line Bill Kollar and defensive backs coach David Gibbs, who were hired last week, the Texans' defensive staff is complete.

No replacements have been hired for head trainer Kevin Bastin and strength coach Dan Riley, whose contracts weren't renewed.
