Texans quarterback Matt Schaub jumped out to a rough start in the season opener, and the focus this week will be on how he rebounds against a defense that is just as intimidating as the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Baltimore Ravens dominated in their season opener, thanks to a defense that gave up just 154 total yards.

Schaub must focus on taking care of the ball. He threw two interceptions and lost one fumble against the Steelers. He has a tendency to force throws instead of just throwing the ball away.

His teammates said they aren't concerned about Schaub in the long term. Last season, he typically played better after bad losses. In three different games, he had two interceptions last season. The next time he took the field, he cut his interceptions to zero.

"You can't just put it on Matt," wide receiver Andre Johnson said. "I don't worry about Matt. Matt's a hard worker. It's not like anyone goes out and tries to perform bad. Sometimes those things happen. Sometimes you have bad days and you have to go back, regroup and bounce back."

Schaub will have to relax in the pocket, and be prepared for another pass rush this week. Last season, Schaub was sacked only 16 times -- and never more than three times in one game.

Against the Steelers, Schaub was sacked five times. He was also hit often after he threw the ball. On one of the early sacks, Schaub absorbed a hard hit, and coach Gary Kubiak worried he was going to have to be sidelined. But Schaub got up and didn't miss a play.

"I'm never going to say I was affected by something like that (a sack)," he said. "You just have to go out and play."

Schaub will try to do just that again this week, and his teammates are confident his game will be much better.

"It doesn't concern me," wide receiver Kevin Walter said. "Matt's going to come out and have a great game. He's a leader and he's a great quarterback. You can' just put it on the quarterback's shoulders. It's the whole offense. If one fails, we all fail. We have to be on the same page or it doesn't work."
