Houston Texans Notes, Quotes 2008-09-25
--WR Andre' Davis was given a much larger role in the second game of the season on offense. He lined up a number of times on the outside, and it paid off for the Texans. He had two receptions for a total of 60 yards.

Davis, who is always a deep threat, had a 49-yard catch.

"I think it's one of those things we were really setting up well all day," Davis said of the catch. "We had our run game working well. I was just able to get in there, get inside, kind of get lost in traffic and then get outside and make a play. I'm just trying to do everything I can to help this team."

Davis finished third in the league last season with 17.7 yards per catch. He currently is averaging 30 yards per catch this season.

--Last week, coach Gary Kubiak let his team go for it six times on fourth downs. He said part of the reason was because he wanted to be aggressive. Another reason was because he wasn't happy with the snapping on kicks.

Either way, the six attempts were the most in franchise history, and the Texans only converted on two of them. Some players said they liked having the opportunity to make big plays, but they aren't sure if they will get so many chances in a single game again.

"We'll see how it goes the next couple of weeks to see if they keep letting us do that," TE Owen Daniels said. "We want to do it; we believe we can do it. I think they've had confidence in us to let us try to convert those situations and if we get those chances we have to prove to them we can convert. It's not lack of effort. I can't tell you exactly what. But obviously some things are off."

BY THE NUMBERS: 2 -- Games before LG Chester Pitts will have started 100 consecutive games in his career.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I still think we're a good team. I think we're going to win a lot of games this year. Obviously, Week 1 was not a good game, but we fought hard yesterday. We just offensively bogged down in the red zone. I think we had the ball on the 10-yard line, 11-yard line, and the 1-yard line and got zero points out of it. So, that's not the way you win games. We were bad on third down. We need to fix that stuff." -- TE Owen Daniels, on the state of the 0-2 Texans.
