Houston Texans Notes, Quotes 2009-01-06
--When second-year CB Fred Bennett cleaned out his locker, he made it clear he was ready to move on to Year 3. Bennett struggled to find consistency throughout the 2008 season. There were hopes that he would enter this year as a starter, but he struggled to have the same consistency that he had over the second half of his rookie season. He moved in and out of the starting lineup, until eventually being replaced by Dunta Robinson in the final six weeks.

Bennett said a number of players, including Robinson, helped him stay positive throughout the season of highs and lows.

"(Robinson's) just a good guy, but not only him, you know DeMeco (Ryans) and Mario (Williams) helped," Bennett said. "I had guys come to me and they kept me up, and I really appreciate them for that. But, I kind of took it upon myself. I knew it wouldn't get me down. Like I said, I believe in myself too much and I knew I could play this game."

Bennett said he would work hard in the offseason to improve his all-around game.

"I'm going to get strong, faster, quicker; whatever I have to do to better my game, to better myself as an NFL football player, I'm going to do," he said.

--TE Owen Daniels is still waiting to see if he gets an opportunity to play in the Pro Bowl in February. Daniels has been told he is the first alternate for the AFC, and he hopes he may just have a chance to get on the field in Hawaii.

"That would be awesome if I could get an opportunity to go out there and do that and to play the best players in the league, but I'm not thinking about that too much," Daniels said. "If I get the call, I'll be happy to go and enjoy that experience, but honestly (I'm) just trying to enjoy the beginning of my time off."

QUOTE TO NOTE: "Well, it was very good, I mean, to end on a good note, which we did last year also, but they're very upbeat today and very positive. You know what I try to do is to talk to each one about what I think, you know, how their season went, where they were, ask their opinion, what they thought, try to talk to them about the future and what I expect from them as we move forward and ... just leave them on that note, and then I usually get back with them here in the next month and revisit with each and every one of them. But it was good, it was good to visit with all of them, and like I said, it was all very positive." -- Coach Gary Kubiak, on his individual meetings with each player Monday.
