Sunday Scoops: NFL not fine with Jared Allen
The Vikings this offseason traded for Pro Bowl defensive end Jared Allen, then signed him to the most lucrative deal ever given to a defensive player with the hope he would terrorize opposing quarterbacks. While Minnesota feels he has produced exactly as advertised, he may be too ferocious in the eyes of the NFL.

Allen revealed to FOX Sports that he has been summoned to the league office for a Tuesday meeting to explain and, for all intents and purposes, defend his play in attacking quarterbacks, with the hopes of avoiding a suspension and/or yet another severe fine.

NFL Week 11

"We're still not out of it," he said Saturday night. "If we can beat them (Arizona), we get them twice and they have a tough schedule ahead of them we could have a chance. Plus we're getting back some guys like Deion (Branch). We have a chance."

ROMO'S ABOUT FACE: It's a good thing the Cowboys had their bye week placed at the right time this season. Last week in practice several Cowboys sources contend Romo was clearly still in pain and his passes were far from pretty.

However, upon return from a four-day break these sources say his delivery and passes were night and day from the previous week. They contend that while he was in pain the previous week the pain in his pinky pretty much dissipated and his velocity had vastly improved. However, they warned of one major thing.

"He's been very strong in practice this week but the key will be to see how he feels when the bullets start flying in game-time conditions,' said one source. "We have to see when it starts getting tense out there if it starts to hurt or if he can't sling it around out there as well."

YEAH BABE, YOU WILL BE MISSED: This week the FOX family lost perhaps the classiest member of our team when the great FOX Sports Radio GM Andrew Ashwood died of a heart attack after a lengthy battle with cancer. Folks, it's very rare in this business when you meet someone nobody ever has anything bad to say about, but Andrew was that man.

He refused to give in to cancer, always stated cancer wouldn't kill him. Andrew, it didn't, you won. God gave us a blessing by taking him peacefully, not from cancer but from his heart going out. He was an incredible friend and I'm incredibly proud to have the best guardian angel looking over me now a man could ask for.

You will be missed more than you'll ever know and celebrated for the rest of our lives. Thank you, my friend.
